In one of my earlier posts, Randy and I discovered The Cape fear Seafood Company on a trip to Wilmington, NC. On the back of the menu I brought home, I noticed that they have a location in Raleigh, NC. It’s only about 1 hour from our house, so we decided to try them out to see if they are just as good.
We have tried many items from the menu. Here are some of our favorites.
Wanda’s Favorites

I love the fish-n-chips basket. It comes with fries and cole slaw. I’m not a fan of cole slaw so, I skip it. The reason I love this basket is the beer-battered cod. It is delicious and hot and crispy when it comes to the table. A side of ranch and malt vinegar and I am all set.

Another favorite of mine is the roasted red pepper and crab bisque. It is made with roasted red peppers, cream, spices, and backfin lump crab. It’s the perfect start to the meal and the crackers that come with the soup are wonderful. They remind me of the soup crackers I get from Aldi.

Scallops on Maque Choux is my favorite appetizer. We don’t get it every time we go because it’s a lot of food. Sometimes I get this and fries as a side and make it into my meal. This is one of the best things that I have eaten in a long time. I don’t usually pick scallops because I had some I didn’t like many years ago and these were the first scallops I ate since then. After giving these a try, I have found a new love for scallops. They are seasoned and cooked perfectly. They are on top of roasted corn, poblano, andouille, with a light cajun cream sauce and topped with chicharrons. It’s such an interesting combination and one that should not be missed.

The shrimp and grits features shrimp, Applewood bacon, tomatoes, scallions & mushrooms in a low country cream sauce over cheese grits. These are some of the most tasty grits that I have ever had. The cream sauce is equally as delicious. I get the lunch portion with a side of fries and I am very happy and full!
Randy’s Favorites

The smoked salmon alfredo boasts house smoked salmon cakes, mushrooms, asparagus, penne pasta, roasted garlic alfredo, and parmesan. The combination of the smoked salmon and the creamy alfredo sauce compliments each other perfectly. The penne pasta is the perfect shape to hold onto the sauce and makes it easy to eat. Randy gets this almost every time we eat here.

The grilled shrimp at Cape Fear Seafood is some of the best and Randy loves it. The shrimp is dusted with blackening spice and comes with 2 sides. Rice Pilaf and green beans with roasted tomatoes make perfect accompaniment. The green beans and rice are both seasoned to perfection.

When Randy is looking for a lighter meal, he gets the grilled shrimp pita with a side salad. It has the same seasoned grilled shrimp and comes in a fresh pita with lettuce, tomato, and sauce.

The Trawick Pediatric Cardiology Research Fund
During a routine ultrasound, Cape Fear Seafood Company founders Evans and Nikki Trawick discovered their baby girl Ande had a congenital heart defect in which the left side of the heart is underdeveloped, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Ande is doing fine today because of the care she received at Duke Children’s Hospital. The Trawick Pediatric Cardiology Research Fund was established in 2018 to support pediatric cardiology research at the hospital. It helps further the research necessary for Ande and the thousands of children born each year with congenital heart defects. So far, $92,855 has been raised.
