Wegman’s Love It List highlights new seasonal products that customers love. For the summer, they are highlighting some summer flavors of their kettle potato chip. I decided to have a taste test to find our favorite summer flavor. For the taste test, Randy did not know which flavors he was trying. Part of the fun was having him try to decide what flavor he was tasting.

We sampled 4 of the summer kettle chip flavors: Aged Cheddar, Dill Pickle, Maui Onion, and Ketchup. Here’s what we thought!
Aged Cheddar
Aged Cheddar chips have a 3.6 out of 5-star rating on Wegman’s Website. Some reviewers found them to be too salty. We loved the flavor. They have a bold cheddar flavor that is easily distinguishable and Randy immediately guessed that he was eating Cheddar chips. The chips are nice and crispy and not broken at all. I hate a bag of chips with lots of broken pieces at the bottom. Our total score for this chip was 13.

Dill Pickle
Dill Pickle was next. This one has a 3.22 out of 5-star rating on Wegman’s Website. Reviewers said that the chips tasted more like vinegar and salt and less like a dill pickle. However, Randy guessed that the chips were “some kind of pickle” right away. I taste the vinegar first but definitely get the dill flavor too. Our total score for the Dill Pickle chips was 11.

Maui Onion
The Maui Onion chips were the biggest surprise for me. They have a perfect 5-star rating on Wegman’s website. The chips have a delicious sweet onion flavor. Randy had a hard time guessing the flavor of these. He tasted the sweetness and guessed that they were pancake-flavored. They are the sweetest of the four varieties. Our score for the Maui Onion chips was 10.

Ketchup
Finally, the Ketchup flavor. They have a 4.83 out of 5- star rating on Wegman’s Website. These chips have a strange coloring. They have a similar look to barbeque chips but have a more earthy coloring. They almost have a brown color. Randy was unable to guess the flavor of these. He guessed barbeque at one point so he was close. These also surprised me. They taste very much like fresh tomatoes. They have a slightly tangy flavor that I really liked. Our score for the Ketchup chips was 10.

Final Thoughts
Wegman’s did an excellent job with these flavors. The chips are crispy and fresh tasting and there are no crumbs in any of the bags. Each flavor has a calories count of 140 calories per serving. The Ketchup, Dill Pickle, and Maui Onion chips are all gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan. The Aged Cheddar chips are gluten-free.

This was such a fun project and Randy and I had a great time trying these chips. Sophie even got in on the fun! You can watch the taste test on our YouTube channel.
Stay tuned for our next taste test and let us know in the comments which Wegman’s kettle chip is your favorite.
